As I mentioned, I like long haul flights far more than short flights. Therefore, I just accepted the invitation for swapping in this Carins flight right away without checking the weather. Cairns... It was a great mistake that I thought there is sunshine & diving for 365 days.
The day before duty, I finally checked the weather. The weather forecast website I used to check showed 17/25 dc. I think it is okay... However, here is 11/16dc actually. I won't believe that website anymore! So cold this morning... luckily I did bring a cardigan, just in case.
We arrived at 9am, and had some desserts & tea provided by hotel. The chocolate brownies are awesome! My lovely classmates: you should have a try. Then, everybody went back rooms for charging up. We planned to meet up at 5pm and go to a shopping mall and market to taste oysters here (Cairns: GMT+10, HK: GMT+8) . Stupid me, set the alarm wrongly at 5pm..... when I woke up, all my colleagues were gone and that's the last shuttle bus.... one nice old man in hotel conceirge told me most of the shops nearby would be closed at 6pm and told me to get to another supermarket instead by walk.
It was lucky that I didn't take the bus, because the scenic view all the way is very nice. The churches are so beautiful. I like Darling Harbour in Sydney, I like the buildings in Melbourne, I like the coast in Cairns. I love Australia. After shopped a huge box of yogurt, a big big french bread and honey sliced ham (Yup! I decided to make some sandwiches myself for dinner), I went to a super beautiful "PUBLIC" swimming pool near the coast, sat on the grassland and had my dinner there. It's very relaxing. It's kinda like a resort indeed. I imagined if I am swimming there, the feeling is just like you are swimming in the sea. When will we have such a wonderful public swimming pool in HK? ...What's a pity it's night time. So, I decided to bring a swimming suit and go there tomorrow instead of joining the local tour. Because it would be very windy tomorrow morning, I had no choice but to give up snorkelling and meeting the coral reef ... My Great Barrier reef.
My ar Goh said the best time coming to Carins is Oct-Feb. I will definitely come back here and have sky diving! Let's swap in together la!
